Preparation
- Heat a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Ensure your workspace is clear and ingredients are within easy reach.
Cooking
- Add ground beef to the hot skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon or spatula. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until meat is evenly browned.
- Sprinkle the onion soup mix evenly over the browned beef and stir thoroughly to coat all meat pieces. Cook for 1 minute.
- Pour the entire can of diced tomatoes, including juice, into the skillet. Stir to combine, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let stand for 2-3 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute 93/7 lean ground beef. Add vegetables like finely diced bell peppers or mushrooms during the browning phase for added nutrition.
