Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- Prepare the jalapeños by cutting them in half lengthwise and removing the seeds and membranes with a spoon. (Wear gloves to protect your hands from the oils!)
- Mix the filling by combining softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, minced garlic, chopped green onions, smoked paprika, and onion powder in a bowl.
- Fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture using a spoon or piping bag. Don't overfill them.
- Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with half a slice of bacon, starting at one end and working to the other, then secure with a toothpick.
- Sprinkle brown sugar on top of the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers if you want a touch of sweetness (optional but highly recommended).
- Arrange the poppers on the prepared baking sheet with the filling facing up.
Cooking
- Cook for 20-25 minutes until the bacon is crispy and the cream cheese stuffed jalapenos are tender.
- Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving to avoid burning your guests' mouths.
Notes
Consider partially cooking the bacon beforehand for extra crispiness. Impress your guests with variations like an air fryer method or a spicy version by adding cayenne pepper.
