Ingredients

Jalapeno Poppers
  • 12 pieces fresh jalapeño peppers
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ cup green onions finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 12 slices bacon not thick-cut
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar optional
  • 12 pieces toothpicks for securing

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Prepare the jalapeños by cutting them in half lengthwise and removing the seeds and membranes with a spoon. (Wear gloves to protect your hands from the oils!)
  3. Mix the filling by combining softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, minced garlic, chopped green onions, smoked paprika, and onion powder in a bowl.
  4. Fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture using a spoon or piping bag. Don't overfill them.
  5. Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with half a slice of bacon, starting at one end and working to the other, then secure with a toothpick.
  6. Sprinkle brown sugar on top of the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers if you want a touch of sweetness (optional but highly recommended).
  7. Arrange the poppers on the prepared baking sheet with the filling facing up.
Cooking
  1. Cook for 20-25 minutes until the bacon is crispy and the cream cheese stuffed jalapenos are tender.
  2. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before serving to avoid burning your guests' mouths.

Notes

Consider partially cooking the bacon beforehand for extra crispiness. Impress your guests with variations like an air fryer method or a spicy version by adding cayenne pepper.
