Ingredients

Beef
  • 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced Partially freeze to make slicing easier.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or hoisin sauce Alternatively use teriyaki or store-bought marinade.
Vegetables
  • 2 cups mixed stir-fry vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, broccoli, snap peas) Use whatever is available in the fridge.
Additional Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds For garnish.
  • to taste sriracha For extra spiciness, if desired.

Method

Preparation
  1. Partially freeze the flank steak or sirloin for easier slicing.
  2. Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large pan over high heat until very hot.
  2. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned, cooking in batches if necessary.
  3. Add soy sauce or hoisin sauce to the pan and stir in the vegetables.
  4. Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  5. Remove from heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds and optionally sriracha.

Notes

For best results, do not overcrowd the pan, and pat the beef dry before cooking. You can pre-cook the vegetables if you prefer them softer.
